Former Marine files federal lawsuit over Camp Lejeune water

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court on Friday, seeks more than $16 million in damages for Joel Shriberg, who says he developed the cancer because of "notorious and reckless contamination" at the military base.

The complaint alleges gross negligence, negligence and willful misconduct and states that the government has a history of deception and misinformation related to the water contamination.

"There is a long history of lost documents, deceptive lab tests, and poor management at Camp Lejeune," said the complaint.
