If you are a Vietnam Veteran, a child of a Vietnam Veteran, or Grandchild of a Vietnam Veteran you need to attend.
If you are a Medical Student you need to know what health issues are affecting Vietnam Veterans, their children and grandchildren.This forum will explore and educate the Public, Health Officials, U.S. Government State and Federal Legislators, Vietnam Veterans and their Families of the effects of Agent Orange. Our speakers will be Sandie Wilson and George Claxton, Members of VVA Agent Orange/Dioxin and Other Toxic Exposures Committee; Mokie Porter, National VVA; Keith King, Vietnam Veteran and his daughter Amy Applewhite; and Nancy Switzer, National AVVA President.
Our Town Hall Meeting hopes to collect stories of how Agent Orange is affecting Vietnam Veterans and their families. The U.S. Government just recently added B-cell Leukemia, Ischemic Heart Disease and Parkinson's disease to the list of Agent Orange-related illnesses. Other new illnesses include Chloracne, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, Hodgkin's disease, Multiple Melanomas, Sarcomas, Prostate Cancer and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
The Department of Veterans Affairs said that surviving spouses and decedents of Vietnam Veterans may also be entitled to benefits.
Agent Orange, an herbicide chemical containing dioxin, used to defoliate the Jungles in Vietnam may have exposed more than 2 million U.S. Military personnel from 1961 to 1970.
