Veterans Administration Medical Inspectors have made 11 recommendations for improvement at the James A. Haley Hospital. The report is part an investigation into concerns about patient care and cleanliness into the facility after the family of Cape Coral soldier Cory Kent complained about the conditions in the hospital.
"It was like it was forgotten. It was in its own little corner no one said anything no one came down here and looked and they just left it alone," said Ashby, "I don't think anything would have happened if wasn't for you and the media and Senator Nelson and the congresswoman from Tampa. They did their own inspection and seen first hand what we were talking about and put a little pressure on them. And that's what they needed a little nudge and I think we did that and it came out better for everybody."
