TRURO, N.S. - Charges against one of the men accused in the Nova Scotia murder investigation of former Hells Angels member Randy Mersereau have been dropped.

The Crown announced in provincial court in Truro today that it would not proceed with two charges against Leslie Greenwood.

Greenwood was charged last December with attempted murder in the death of Mersereau during a 1999 bombing and with being an accessory after the fact.

Defence lawyer Al Begin says he was surprised about the Crown's decision not to go ahead with those charges when he was informed earlier in the week.

Greenwood is also charged with first-degree murder in the September 2000 deaths of Mersereau's brother Barry and his common-law wife Nancy Christensen.

Greenwood remains in custody on those charges.
